The expansion adds subterranean map zones accessible through special gates, alongside Spell Scrolls that provide additional tactical options without counting toward normal hand or spell limits. Inside the box are a Stronghold town model, two hero miniatures, seven unit miniatures, 12 map tiles, 70 cards, 101 tokens, 30 acrylic cubes and the necessary boards and books.

The harsh lands of Krewlod are home to fierce barbarian clans whose greatest victories live forever through legends and songs. Now, the mighty heroes Crag Hack and Yog unite against the necromancers threatening Erathia.
The Stronghold Expansion introduces the complete Stronghold faction, featuring new heroes, units, miniatures, cards and missions. It also adds Subterranean Map Tiles, creating underground areas that can only be entered through special Subterranean Gates.
Players can also discover Spell Scrolls—powerful spells that can be stored without counting towards the normal hand or spell limit. Use them during combat or sell them at a Trading Post for additional gold.
